Caldera is currently accepting applications for seasonal positions during Camp Caldera 2017:

Challenge Course Facilitator
The Challenge Course Facilitator incorporates program goals into course facilitation on both high and low elements and encourages campers to set goals, take positive risks, and challenge personal boundaries while on the course. This position will also help the campers build a sense of their own strengths within a group and increase participants’ sense of personal confidence and mutual support. Ideal candidates for this position will promote personal responsibility and stimulate conversation that makes the lessons learned on the Challenge Course relevant to camp interactions and to campers’ home lives. Connect Facilitator
The Connect Facilitator incorporates program goals into course facilitation and encourages campers to set goals, take positive risks, and challenge personal boundaries while at Camp Caldera. This position will also help the campers build a sense of their own strengths within a group and increase participants’ sense of personal confidence and mutual support. Ideal candidates for this position will promote personal responsibility and stimulate conversation that makes the lessons learned in connect class relevant to camp interactions and to campers’ home lives. Head Chef
At Caldera, we believe the kitchen is truly the heart of camp. As such, the kitchen staff is a very important part of the Caldera Community and is welcome to participate in daily program activities. Head Chef, Sous Chef and five Assistants maintain Caldera’s kitchen. Staff, youth, and guests are expected to follow kitchen rules and are always treated with warmth and respect. Meals should be healthy, delicious, and appealing to both youth and adults. Although Caldera’s kitchen budget is limited, people should always feel a sense of abundance during mealtime. The youth we serve are often familiar with the concept of scarcity and feelings of hunger. At Caldera, we want youth to enjoy what it feels like to have enough to eat. Kitchen Assistant
Kitchen Assistants are responsible for helping with many aspects of meal preparation and kitchen maintenance (in accordance with Summer Program Food Service Program meal requirements), as well as maintaining a friendly, sanitary kitchen and dining space. Lifeguard
The Lifeguard oversees planning and delivery of free time activities and activities at the camp’s waterfront that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. The Lifeguard will provide management to the physical operation of the waterfront’s facilities and equipment. Other job responsibilities of this position include the health and safety of their charges as they lead campers in fire drills and emergency procedures. Nurse
The Camp Nurse is responsible for providing medical care to all campers and staff during camp sessions. During training, the Camp Nurse will go over basic information with all staff. Click here for the full description and application link.

Sous Chef

Youth Advocate
The Youth Advocate is an important and challenging job at Camp Caldera. Working with a group of six to eight campers each camp session, daily responsibilities include: building positive relationships, leading activities, playing hard, promoting self-discipline and self-awareness among campers, and safeguarding campers physically and emotionally. Advocates build a fun and cohesive team of campers, as well as the greater camp community. Advocates act as mentors, advisers, guides, and friends to campers for the duration of the summer program.
