RECESS SCULPTURE

RECESS SCULPTURE

A COLLABORATIVE SCULPTURE PROJECT WITH 2014 GOLDEN SPOT AWARD ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

Through collage, brainstorming and mapping exercises, students articulated issues they face in their school. They made posters that served as public service announcements as a way to influence change in their community. As a February artist in residence, Emily then took the students’ slogans and turned them into hand-drawn stop-motion animation films in her own studio. She returned to the school two months later to show the students what they had inspired. Student participants: Banana (12th), Hanimal (10th), Purple Peanut Butter (9th) from Bend, Cookie Dough (9th) from Redmond.

Location: Saturday High School Workshop at Caldera

Year: 2014
