Woven Suns

Woven Suns

Weaving / Painting with Amy Burtelow & Shayleen Macy

Inspired by the work of Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky, students created woven suns using paper plates, paint, and yarn. Together they explored Kandinsky’s abstract work, examining his craftsmanship and attention to detail. The classes also examined the radial symmetry and sun-like features present in circle weaving. Combining this study with their own creativity, students set to work painting and weaving, each creating their own unique woven sun.
