Caldera Announces 2020 Artists in Residence

Posted on: January 17th, 2020

Caldera announces 28 artists who have been selected for residencies in winter 2020.

Through our residency program, Caldera supports artists, creatives, and cultural workers to build skills, relationships, and projects that inspire growth, combat oppression, and activate change. Residents draw inspiration from the residency community and the natural world surrounding the Caldera Arts Center in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Caldera offers 2 and 3.5 week residencies January through March. Residencies are open to US-based and international artists, creatives and cultural workers in any discipline. Artists at any stage of their careers who are not current students are eligible. Residencies are open to parent artists who would like to bring their children.

In 2020, residents will create new works in ceramics, comics/illustration, dance, poetry, painting, music, and many other genres. While in residence, these artists will also offer workshops to students in Caldera’s Youth Program as well as to the public.

Please join Caldera for three afternoons of art and conversation with our 2020 Artists in Residence at Open Studios. This year, our first Open Studios on February 1 will be held at the Downtown Bend Library. For our next two events on February 29 and March 28, we invite you to our Arts Center near Sisters. Open Studios is an exciting opportunity to connect with dynamic and diverse artists from around the country as they share their work alongside young people from Caldera’s Youth Program. Artists in Residence, as well as Caldera students, will share their work with the public through presentations and performances. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.

Applications for 2021 residencies will be open February 1, 2020.
