Summer Camp 2012

Summer camp is here!  We’re looking forward to another wonderful summer out at Blue Lake.  Below is more information on our three sessions this year. Please let the main office know if you have questions – 503-937-7594.

 

Immersion 1: (10 days)    Staff arrive: July 13th      Camp Session: July 14th-23rd    Staff Depart: July 24th

Intense exploration of the arts and emotional/social development while focusing deeply on one specific art form. This 10 day session consists of students going into 11th and 12th grades who have been with the program for several years, and some may also be apprentice students who’ve focused in their discipline weekly throughout the school year. Immersion students will have daily sessions with artists and evening studio time. The daily class sessions with the artist (8 total) are approximately 3 hours long. Studio time is approximately an hour and a half and happens several evenings.

 

Immersion 2:  (10 days)   Staff arrive: July 26th     Camp Session: July 27th-Aug. 5th  Staff Depart: Aug 6th 

Exploration and development of skills in two art forms, with special attention given to the emotional/social development issues relevant to the transition from middle school to high school. This 10 day session consists of students going into 9th and 10th grades some have been with the program for several years, and some may be newer to the program. Immersion 2 students will meet with artists every other day and participating in evening studio time. The daily class sessions with the artist (4 total for each group) are approximately 3 hours long. Studio time is approximately an hour and a half and happens several evenings. Artists will teach a session every day but see group A one day and group B the next.

 

Discovery:  (8 days)         Staff arrive: Aug 8th       Camp Session: Aug. 9th – 16th    Staff Depart: Aug 17th      

Developing appreciation and experience in multiple art forms and covering components of social   and emotional development related to middle school aged youth. Students meet with each of the 4 artists 3 times. Class sessions are approximately one and a half hours each totaling 4.5 hours per art form for the campers.  Artists teach 2 sessions a day and will see all students over 2 days of rotations.
